Knoxville, TN – Injury Crash on EB I-40 Near West Hills
Knoxville, TN (September 18, 2025) – A multi-vehicle crash on eastbound I-40 near West Hills on Wednesday, September 17, left one person injured. The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) reported the incident occurred around 7:15 p.m. and involved five vehicles, including a tractor-trailer. The collision was described as a chain reaction, causing the tractor-trailer to jackknife against the inside barrier.
A secondary crash at mile marker 383, linked to the initial collision, involved two vehicles. One person was transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for back pain. No other injuries were reported. TDOT reopened the lanes just after 9 p.m. Authorities continue to investigate both crashes.
