Raleigh, NC – Seven-Vehicle Crash on I-40 Near U.S. 1 Leaves Several Injured
Raleigh, NC (September 21, 2025) – A major crash involving at least seven vehicles left multiple people injured on Sunday afternoon, September 21, along eastbound Interstate 40 near the U.S. 1 interchange. The North Carolina Department of Transportation reported the accident around 1:30 p.m. at mile marker 293 in southwest Raleigh.
Images captured by DOT traffic cameras showed seven cars pulled off the highway shoulder, with several emergency vehicles and two ambulances on site. Paramedics treated injured occupants, and at least one person was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.
The crash caused significant traffic delays as lanes were partially blocked while first responders secured the scene and assisted victims. Authorities have not confirmed the exact number of people hurt or the severity of their injuries, but they did state that all involved received medical attention.
