Henderson Co., TN – Multi-Vehicle Wreck on I-40 Involving Trucks Leaves One Dead

Henderson County, TN (September 22, 2025) – A chain-reaction crash involving several commercial vehicles resulted in one fatality on Interstate 40 in Henderson County on Monday morning, September 22. The Henderson County Fire Department confirmed the accident happened near mile marker 98 around 8:44 a.m.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the crash began when an oversized load vehicle lost control and collided. Two other commercial trucks behind attempted to avoid the wreck but ended up striking each other in the process. The impact left significant damage and blocked several lanes of traffic. One individual was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. The victim’s identity has not yet been released pending family notification.

Responding crews closed portions of I-40 for hours while investigating and removing debris. The Tennessee Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation to determine the sequence of events and whether any citations will follow.
